MeadowLawn Funeral Home, Crematory and Cemetery
We operate as a licensed funeral home facility, two licensed crematories and a licensed perpetual care cemetery on the southeastern side of San Antonio. We are situated on 94 acres of which 27 have been developed, leaving 67 acres for future expansion. We offer a wide variety of funeral services; traditional funeral services with burial at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, a wide range of cremation services and complete burial options at our own cemetery. Burial, mausoleums, niches and a scattering garden are available to you and your family. Christmas of 2003, we bought American Mortuary and Bexar County Mortuary Services and in February of 2005 we relocated the businesses to our E. Houston location to offer complete services to our friends and families.
MeadowLawn was the original burial grounds for the Sons of Herrmann Fraternal Cemetery which dates back to the 1850's. Ackerman and Gembler Roads were named after these early settlers of San Antonio and these roads were the outer boundaries of their cotton farms. Cy Weller bought the adjacent property to this 2 acre cemetery and transformed it into a perpetual care cemetery in 1963. Craig Cates, the son in law of Mr. Weller entered the business in 1981 and expanded it into the funeral home, cemetery and crematory combination that is family operated today.
In 1991, the decision was made to enter into the cremation market due to the increasing demand by the consumer. Complete with a viewing and witness room, the family may stay and witness the entire process and even start the process if they so choose.
Because we own and operate our own facility, we have the ability to schedule your cremation service immediately after all permits are issued. We guarantee that we will perform the cremation within 24 hours after all permits are secured or we will refund your crematory service charge of 225.00.
All Paws Great and Small Pet Crematory
In April of 2004, we decided to expand our facilities to offer our experience in cremation services to your beloved pets. Our crematories are in two separate buildings; one houses the human crematories and the second building houses the pet crematory. For your peace of mind and security, 4 video cameras record the operations of our employees and these records are reviewed regularly to insure that your loved ones are being treated with respect and dignity. We have 6 licensed, certified crematory operators on our staff with over 15,000 human cremations performed since 1991.
