Melchor Lira, 31 of San Antonio, passed away on February 14, 2017. Melchor Lira was born on November 21, 1985 to his loving parents, Reyes and Blanca Lira. He was soon followed by five siblings, Nahum, Aholibama, Abigail, Nohelly and Mariann. On August 8, 2009 he married the love of his life, Kimberli Smith and they had two beautiful children, Malachi Lira and Hannah Lira.
Melchor Lira was amazing. He was the best father. Malachi and Hannah will always have the memories of their dad throwing them in the air, carrying them on his shoulders, building them forts and playing for hours with them. Even though Mel worked 60 hours a week and was a full time college student, he always had time for his children. They were his world. Melchor also loved his wife so much. They didn't celebrate holidays with gift giving but wrote letters to each other and his wife now has those letters as a precious memory of the love he had for her. He will always be a hero to his wife and two children.
Above all, Melchor lived and devoted his life to living for God. When he was first diagnosed with cancer, he declared that no matter the outcome God was good. During the two years that he battled with cancer he never grew angry at God. He praised God through the darkest storm of his life. In the middle of the night, his wife could often hear him singing worship songs and praying. When he could, he would not only make it to church but he would continue playing his bass guitar as part of the music team. His life was a testimony to many of living for God at all times.
