Margaret "Maggie" Brown

 margaret brown
Maggie went to be with the Lord she knew so well on March 16, 2016 at the age of 89. She was born in Sidney, Texas to James Thomas Alexander Carouth and Mabel May Flippo. Maggie worked at the Pig Stands of Texas (Pig Stand 40 on Rigsby Ave) for 44 years. She dearly loved the job, the people and her Mighty Boys of Blue (SAPD). She loved to sing at church and on Saturdays at Country Care Manor with the band. She always had a front seat. Maggie loved to go to church on Sunday with her best friend Cindy and a trip to Witte's after hearing the Word. Maggie was preceded in death by her husband Albert "Cooter" Brown, daughter Jelania James, daughter-in-law Mable Brown and grandson Michael James. She is survived by Ronnie James (Hilda), Tommy Brown (Joyce), John Brown (Pam), 7 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the extended family that took good care of her at Country Care Manor in LaVernia, Guadalupe Regional Hospital in Seguin and Warm Springs, Luling, Texas. Maggie is home with the Lord now and sleeps with the angels.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. In these sad and troublesome times it is reassuring to remember Jesus’ promise that one day soon “all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out.” (John 5:28,29) God promises that at that time “death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore.” (Revelation 21:4) My condolences.

  2. Maggie was such a sweet lady, she always had nice things to say to me….she’ll be remembered always…may God bless her and her family during this difficult time.

  3. Ms. Brown was a great supporter of law enforcement. Any of us who ever worked the SE side of San Antonio knew her. She was the kind of person who made our jobs worthwhile. On behalf all police officers, rest in peace, Miss Maggie, save us a cup, and walk with Jesus! Captain Billy Anders, SAPD retired 1996

  4. I never had the honor of truly knowing her, but the time I spent with her during my high school Health Science 2 course rotations were memorable. She was one of the nicest citizens at Country Care Manor, who, even in her old age, found ways to make us smile and laugh despite whatever could have ailing us. God Bless Margaret Brown, may you rest in peace.

  5. Thanks for bringing her to church Cindy. My children got a chance to see true faith and worship in action. She was and will continue to be an example of how to love and praise our Lord. She is singing and dancing with the angels.

  6. I am sorry about your loss ,she will be singing in heaven and she will be with cooter and her daughter and her grandson , My heart goes out to all of you

  7. Maggie was a shining example of Christian love. We always enjoyed her participation in the worship services at Country Care Manor. Maggie didn’t need a hymnal because she know all the old hymns by heart. We will miss her sweet smile, and are thankful for having the pleasure of knowing her!

  8. To the friends and family of Maggie Brown…I came across a scripture found in God’s word the Bible in the book of Acts 24:15 which reads: And I have hope toward God, which hope these men also look forward to, that there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous. I hope this scripture brings you comfort and know that this is a promise that God gives us for the future. My condolences go out to your family and friends. Mrs. Aguirre

  9. So, so sorry to hear about Mrs. Brown. She was absolutely one of my favorite people in LaVernia. She was one of the nicest people I’ve ever met. I will truly miss her! My heart goes out to her family—especially Ronnie, who took such good care of her. I’m sure heaven greeted her with joyous singing–and I’m sure she is singing with them now!
