Alicia G. Carrizales

On the evening of July 16, 2021 while surrounded by her loving husband, children and grandchildren, Alicia Guerra Carrizales heard the voice of her Lord and Savior calling her to eternal rest at 11:48pm in the home where she resided for 50 years. After battling with the effects of Dementia over the last 5 years, she took her last breath on earth to awaken in presence of God, whom she devoted her life to and served for over 60 years. The promises of God she believed by faith are now a joyful reality. Alicia Guerra Carrizales was born to her parents (deceased) Felix and Olivia Guerra on May 2, 1931 in San Antonio and is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Dr. Rev. Joe G. Carrizales, her 5 Children, Joe (Diana) Carrizales, Rebecca (Lou) Carrizales Canillo, Anna Carrizales (Joseph) Rico, Josue (Blanca) Carrizales and Caleb (Miriam) Carrizales; 8 Grandchildren (Jennifer Annette, Jonathan Andrew, Stephen Joel, Joshua Daniel, Nathan Andrew, Yazmine Lizette, Jacob Joseph and Danah Raquel) and 3 Great Grandchildren (Andrew James, Jaxson Cade and Analia Alicia). She is also survived by 2 Sisters, Lidia Gonzalez and Maria Guerra Riojas and many nieces and nephews. Alicia came to the knowledge of the gospel and gave her heart, and life, to the Lord at the early age of 11 years at Primera Iglesia Bautista Fundamental Mexicana which was then located on Durango Street on the West Side of San Antonio. She graduated from Sidney Lanier High School and then received her Bachelor of Religious Education from Bible Baptist Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. Her desire was to some day marry a Pastor and God gave her the desire of her heart. She married Rev. Joe G. Carrizales on July 26, 1959 and started her life of Ministry alongside of her husband beginning in Freer, Texas where they served for 5 years, then returned to San Antonio to lead a Mission which later became Iglesia Bautista Puerta La Hermosa (Beautiful Gate Baptist Church) where she served for 50 years as the Pastor’s Wife, organizing any and all activities, served as a Sunday School Teacher, Bus Ministry Worker, Counsel for the Ladies Group, and was the pianist for the Church throughout her entire time of service to God. Throughout the years she taught Kindergarten, was a Substitute Teacher in several Christian Schools until Beautiful Gate Baptist School was initiated where she was an Administrator and Teacher throughout the years it was in operation. She was a mentor to many Pastor’s wives and Missionary’s wives and was a Special Speaker at several Women’s Conferences throughout her ministry. She made her home a haven to many visiting Missionaries from around the world and was welcoming to any who were in need. She was a faithful financial supporter of World Missions through the Faith Promise Program and encouraged others to do the same. She dedicated her life to her family, her Church and to the furtherance of the Gospel. All who were blessed to know her were impacted by her dedication to serve and minister. Her Family, Church Family and all those whose life she has touched are saddened by this separation, but are strengthened in the knowledge that she now walks on streets of Gold and has seen the Savior who she faithfully served all her life. She leaves a great void in our hearts and life, but her legacy will will continue to bear fruit for years to come.
