brandon smith
“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Proverbs 3: 5-6 Brandon Todd Smith, affectionally known as “Todd”, was the fourth child born to Jonnie B. and Yvonne Kelley Smith on January 9, 1966 in Los Angeles, California. He was preceded in death by his mother, Yvonne Kelley Smith and his nephew, Marvin Lavon Lee, Jr. He professed his faith in God at an early age and was baptized at Mt. Tabor Missionary Baptist Church, Los Angeles, California and later joined Greater Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church, Los Angeles, California. Brandon graduated from Morningside High School in 1984 and attended San Jose State University. He was employed with the Department of Water and Power in Los Angeles for 10 years. Brandon relocated to San Antonio in 1998 and began his employment with the City of San Antonio. He began his 20-year COSA journey with the Fire Department and found his niche with the Office of the City Clerk until his health failed. Brandon was the Council Ceremonials Coordinator and he loved his job and took pride in performing his duties. He was an active member of the National Forum for Black Public Administrators (NFBPA) and held many positions. Brandon joined New Covenant Missionary Baptist Church June 20, 1999 and enjoyed the full privileges of his membership. He was a member of the Inspirational Choir and the Male Chorus.
