Carolyn Faye Coleman McVea, 69, received her wings to Heaven's Gate on March 13, 2014, at Odyssey Hospice House. Carolyn was the second child born March 2, 1945 in San Antonio, Texas to Mr. and Mrs. Herman H. Coleman, Sr. Ms. McVea attend Dorie Miller Elemenatary School, James W. Riley Junior High School and graduated from G. W. Brackenridge High School. She married the late Loy McVea, III and one daughter, Adriene Denise McVea, was born to this union. Later, she attended St. Phillips College and transferred to Incarnate Word College, now the University of the Incarnate Word, where she received her Bacherlor of Science Degree in Psychology with a minr in Sociology in 1980. While attending St. Phillips, she was acknowledged by her professors and received the Who's Who Among American Junior College Award. Carolyn was raised in the New Hope Baptist Church and later moved her membership to the New St. Mark Baptist Church, where she served until her health no longer allowed her to participate. She enjoyed many activities, to include, bowling, crocheting, embroidery and just being around people. Carolyn's father, Herman H. Coleman Sr., and her two brothers, Arthur Larry Coleman and Herman H. Coleman, Jr. preceded her in death. Carolyn is survived by her daughter, Adriene Denise McVea-Daugherty; granddaughter, India Ja'Dawn Morgan Daugherty; mother, Jessie Mae Coleman; sister, Ruth Ann Adams and her husband Clayton; nephews, Thomas M. Wilson and Carolos D. Coleman along with great nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
