Christopher L Gates

christopher gates
Christopher Lashaun Gates was born on May 26, 1973 to Carol Patricia Gates in Chicago, IL. As a child, Christopher enjoyed dancing around the house with his mom and Aunt. The family called Chris "Choppa" because he loved food! He was the epitome of "The Life Of A Party"! His smile was contagious and he loved life. Christopher attended Morgan Park High School. While there he played basketball and was member of the band. He received his diploma and later he joined the US Army, where he served his country with pride from 1998-2002. After working various jobs he landed his career job at Commonwealth Edison in Chicago, where he worked for 15 years. Christopher decided to relocate from Chicago to San Antonio Tx, to be with the love of his life Jennifer, in 2016. Just one year later in July, the lovebirds were married in holy matrimony and their love continued to grow immensely for one another. Upon this union they received news that Allison would be born in February 2020. Christopher later became an Electrical Maintenance Engineer at Alpha Barnes where he worked until his untimely death. Christopher loved playing basketball, swimming and yes, he enjoyed his music! His passion for disco and old school music would spill over into his life. God whispered and Christopher answered to depart this life and live his eternal life, with the Lord on Saturday December 19, 2020. Out of all the things in life, he LOVED being a dad...his wife and children were his world! His mother, Ms. Carol Gates precedes him in death. Christopher leaves to cherish his devoted wife Jennifer Gates; his loving children Jeremy Nichols, Allison Gates, Collin Gates, Christopher Gates Jr., Solemn Gates, Carson Gates, Angel Gates, Karter Matthews, Javelin Creswells; his sweet Grandchildren Jeremy Nichols Jr. & Davieon Nichols ; 1 Sister Sherise Gates Rodgers & 1 Brother Jamal; his loving Aunt Shelia Fort a few sweet Nieces, Nephews , 1 Mother -In- Love Beverly Richards, Father -In- Love Gregory Richards 1 Sister - In Love Alice Richards (Ahmel Scott) and 1 Brother -In- Love Ryan Starks. He was always front and center for everything I had going on. When I walked out to see everyone, he was to my left, held his hand out, gave me a hug and whispered “you are so beautiful buddy and I love you”. I ran in the house crying!!! Out of all the days, he chose that one that make me cry. Couldn’t believe it lol, but he was truly one of the best male figures I had in my life.
