Cynthia E. Walker

cynthia walker
Cynthia E. Walker was born November 11, 1952, in San Antonio, TX to Hamilton and Berdie Wilson-Mitchell. Cynthia was known as the quiet type, but she could be very assertive. She was a sweetheart and friendly towards everyone she met. She always remembered everyone’s birthday, anniversary, and special occasions and would often send cards. Cynthia graduated from Highlands High School in 1970. 8 years later, she married the love of her life, Bernard Walker. To this union one beautiful child was born: BerDette Reschke. Cynthia and BerDette were best friends. When you saw one, you saw the other. Cynthia was a lifelong member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church where she was an usher. She was a forklift operator at Gaylord, Temple-Inland now known as International Paper for 20+ years. Shortly after retiring, she became a caregiver to her mother, Berdie Mitchell (MaDear). Within a year after her mother’s passing, she became a grandmother to a bouncing baby girl, Kataleya Brea Reschke. GrannyCyn is the name she chose; and if you ever had the pleasure of meeting her you know, she loves her some Kataleya! She is a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Her spirit will forever be remembered by all those whose lives she touched. Cynthia E. Walker went to be with the Lord on October 9, 2021. She was preceded in death by her brother, Hamilton Mitchell, Jr. and her mother, Berdie Mitchell. Left to cherish her memory is her beloved husband of 42 years, Bernard Walker; father, Hamilton Mitchell; daughter, BerDette (Kristofer) Reschke; stepdaughter, Berniece Andrette Bursh; grandchildren, Kataleya Reschke and Taquisha Grady; sister, Carolyn Holleman; sister-friend, Rosalind Jackson; a host of loving nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

  1. More than an Aunt…more than a friend. An angel that dwelled on Earth with us throughout our childhood and adult years. She made us laugh, she made us cry, she kept us all in line and taught us how important family and togetherness was. She will definitely be missed, but she will forever remain an angel to me. I love you Aunt Cynthia! Love, Monique Mitchell-Evans (Neekie)

  2. There are so many things I wish I could say to you. You were a second mom to me. Loving. Giving. Caring. Generous. Thoughtful. Kind. Hilariously funny and always there for others. The jokes and secrets and laughter we shared will never be forgotten. You were more than an awesome auntie – you were a dedicated, faithful, and loving sister, aunt, wife, mother and grandmother with the latter being a tremendous source of joy for you!!! Only Jesus can fill the sorrow in my heart. You were always my favorite aunt! We called each each other “Fav”! We talked on the phone almost every single day for years. How many nieces can say that?? Whenever I said I love you, you would reply I love you more. You never forgot birthdays or anniversaries for anyone you knew! I just miss you and I love you more than you could ever know. I know MaDear, Grandma, Grandpa, and my dad were there to welcome you into heavens gate. Love Always – your Fav – Donna
