Debra L. Parker passed away on the morning of September 19 due to complications from pneumonia. She was born in Lawton, Oklahoma on January 10, 1954. A graduate of University of Texas and St. Mary’s University, Debbie was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, mother, and grandmother. For many years, she was a teacher for the hearing impaired at the Texas School for the Deaf. Most recently, she was a dedicated attorney, serving as a staunch advocate for all her clients. She was a voice for the voiceless; her memory inspires us to take up that same work in whatever way we are able.
Debbie is survived by her sons Jamie and Garrett Kolb, her daughter-in-law Eva Turner, her grandsons Isaac and Asher Kolb, and her sister Annette Carter; along with nieces, nephews and cousins whom she loved deeply. She is survived by countless friends and colleagues who loved and respected her.
Due to the current pandemic and in accordance with Debbie’s wishes, her family will hold a memorial service at a later date in Tyler, Texas, her childhood home. For those who would like to honor Debbie’s memory, we encourage you to make a donation to Child Advocates San Antonio (CASA).

I loved working with Debra, she put a lot of heart and effort into her clients and it showed. You will truly be missed, my friend. 💜
Ms. Parker was my attorney 15 years ago and I never forgot how she called me on Christmas day and told me to meet her in her office the next morning to consult on a very stressful custody case. She was professional, no-nonsense and she will not be forgotten for the moment she was my hero. Rest in peace.
We practiced together in Childrens Court, and opposed each other in other family law cases. She was a fine lawyer and a wonderful friend. I loved to hear her talk about her brilliant and adorable grandchildren. She laughed endearingly. I will miss her caring friendship and warmth. She helped many people and was a voice for many who had never had an advocate before. She was a gift.
I met Deb in law school more than 25 years ago. As most people know, she was a zealous lawyer for her clients, she was crazy about her grandkids, she loved her kids and wanted the best for them and she was the best friend anyone could have. She was a workaholic who gave all her energy to get justice for her clients and to care for those she loved. Over the last few months, she started raising butterflies. She raised black swallowtails, pipevine swallowtails and queens. Queens were her favorite because they were burnt orange, UT’s colors. I will miss her friendship every day.
It is honor and blessing knowing you. You were taken from our presence too soon. Your are missed in this world but we know you will watch over those who love you.
