Doris Ann Anderson-Smith was born January 26, 1946 to Eldridge Anderson and Rachel Byrd Anderson. Doris was called home to God, April 20, 2020.
Doris attended school in San Antonio, Texas until she moved to Southern California where she resided for many years until she returned to San Antonio approximately twenty five years ago. She was a very loving and happy person who loved to socialize and enjoyed the company of other family oriented friends. Doris was extremely independent and had a great work ethic, often working two jobs. She had a diverse work history with several careers in which she performed in an outstanding manner. She worked many years at a factory in Southern California and retired. She worked many years as a disability provider and recently was employed as a physical therapist with the University Hospital Health System.
Doris accepted Christ as her Savior at a young age and had a personal relationship with God most of her life. She was never condescending toward others and was kind, generous and very empathetic to all. She attempted to reach out to others that needed assistance and exemplified loving her neighbor as herself. She was always pleasant and outgoing.
Doris is survived by her son, De'Shawn Williams; husband, Deryn Smith; sisters, Dorothy M. Collier and her husband Isaac and Marjorie Nell Smallwood Todd; brother, Eldridge Ray Anderson; stepchildren, Deon Smith, Derrick Smith, Eric Smith and Britany Smith; granchildren, Dedrick Wiliams and Seth Williams along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents; Eldridge Anderson and Rachel Odessa Byrd Anderson Smallwood; sisters, Linda Jean Smallwood, Diane Smallwood; brothers, Larry Donell Smallwood and Alvin Odis Anderson. Alvin was a retired decorated Vietnam Veteran that served in the U.S. Army for over twenty years.
Doris was loved and appreciated by all and never saw a person that she could not positively interact with. Doris will be missed!

Cookie was like my step mom from a distance, she loved my Dad and me and my brothers like her own family. I will always love her for that. We had a special bond towards the end, and I will never forget that laugh she would do. We had an inside joke when I asked her how she was doing she would say “as good as I look” and then we would fall out laughing. I will always remember her. I know the heavens opened up when they saw her coming. She was a good person who had a good heart. I know her work here on earth was done, so she had to transition with the angels above. Her spirit will live on through her loved ones and all the lives that she touched. She will be forever missed. Love always Brittney Smith.

My Mom and Aunt Cookie met when I was about 8 months old I’m now 49. When I say this lady was my 2nd Mom and NO one could ever say any different. I have so many wonderful memories to many to share. My Aunt Cookie was so happy when my husband and I move to San Antonio, TX 13 years ago. I spent alot of time with my Aunt Cookie playing cards, shopping, cooking and if we weren’t together we were on the phone. My life will never be the same without you. I love you so much, and will forever miss you. Your daughter/ niece Tasana
I send my condolences to the family doris was a loving and caring person l had the privilege of working with her back in the day she was funny and made me happy even when l felt sad. I will always keep her in my heart she was a beautiful spirt. God bless her now and may he strengthen her family at thier time of need rest in peace my friend .
Aunt Cookie, was the best her spirit was always so happy, she always tried to make people laugh when they was feeling down.. She was always there for people in they’re time of need.. And she was always there to lend a helping hand for people.. She will be very missed.. I love you so much auntie.. Now you have you’re wings to fly with the heavenly Angels.. I remember my cousin Ann when I was little, coming over to visit when we lived on Normandie Ave and 29th street in LA, California, she always wanted to comb my hair. I’m in my chapter 55 Lol.

Unbelievable news … Cookie was a 💪 strong young woman with a lot of charisma, outgoing, fun, and loving. She had a heart of gold, caring for her loved ones and friends, a very welcoming spirit. I am saddened by her passing away. May God bless her soul to Rest in Heaven.
