Sis. Doris M. Fields Carter was born to Betty Mae Fields and Frank Buffin on April 17, 1941 in St. Hedwig, Texas. She was one of four children. Sis. Carter’s mother, Betty Fields had all her children in church and because of this upbringing, Sis. Carter met the Lord and confessed her belief in Him at an early age. She attended Greater Tree Mount Temple Baptist Church and remained a member until her passing. She attended public schools in St. Hedwig, Texas. In the late 1960’s she moved to San Antonio where she met Robert J. Carter. They later married and remained true to their vows for fifty-six years until Robert’s passing. To this union six children were born. Sis. Carter leaves a loving legacy to her children. She was an amazing and wonderful sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, mother-in-law and neighbor. Sis. Carter was preceded in death by her parents, Betty M. Fields and Frank Buffin; husband, Robert J. Carter; sons, Robert Carter and David Carter; sister, Evelyn Allen and her special cousin, Helen Newes. Sis. 1. This beautiful soul will be missed so much! The best mother in law a woman could have ever asked for. To me she was more than a mother in law. She was a friend, a confidant, a counselor and a protector all rolled into one. My calls never went unanswered. She made sure that I always felt her presence even when we were miles away. I’m going to miss her smile and her laughter. Always Brenda Buffin.

  2. Thank you Great Auntie for being hard on me and loving as well. Thank you for showing how to get down in the kitchen! I am going to miss you but I know GOD have other plans for you.. Tell my Granny and Unc Blood hello they are truly missed too!! Fly High Auntie
