Elsie M. Johnson

In loving memory of Mrs. Elsie M. Johnson who entered into rest on January 21, 2019. Mrs. Johnson was born on November 17, 1927 in Seguin, Texas. She was the third of nine children born to Amanda and Erkie Brown. Her parents, Amanda and Erkie Brown; her four daughters, Linda, Gloria, Judy and Rose Johnson; three brothers, Adwell, Ray and Jack Brown; four sisters, Dorothy Brown-Whitehead, Celestine Brown, Betty Shelton-Brown and Lee Mae Maxwell all proceeded her in death. Mrs. Johnson attended the public schools in San Antonio to include, Grant Elementary and Douglas High School. Following graduation she worked as a beautician and in hospitality. A God-fearing woman, Mrs. Johnson was baptized at an early age at the West End Baptist Church under the late Rev. E. D. Dukes. She later moved her membership to Shiloh Baptist Church under the late Rev. S. E. Steward, later joining Greater Tree Mount Temple Baptist Church under Pastor Emeritus Aristade Brown. Mrs. Johnson leaves to cherish her memory her sister, Katherine Hill; children, Jacqueline, Yvonne (Kenneth), Larry (LaShawn), Kenneth (Regina) and Michael (Donna) Johnson. She also leaves fifty grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren along with other relatives and friends.
