Grace "Cookie" Hobbs

On the evening of March 12, 2020, Gracie “Cookie” Hobbs went to be with the Lord after a short stay in the hospital. Grace was surrounded and supported by her loving family and doctors during the last days of her life. Gracie “Cookie” Hobbs was born April 12, 1954 in San Antonio, Texas, to father, Wesley Hobbs (deceased) and mother, Alice May Hobbs (deceased). She was the last born of ten children. Gracie reunited with Gardendale Community Baptist Church and was baptized October 15, 2018 and became an active member in the Womens’ Ministry when her health permitted. In 2016, Grace retired from Bexar County Tax Office after faithfully working for 27 years. Gracie has been with Ulisha Byrd since 1980. They recently celebrated 40 years together. Gracie is survived by husband Ulisha Byrd, 2 daughter; Kim Brown and Katrina Stewart, grandchildren; December, Myron and Ambrea Stewart, great-grandchild; Akari Alexander, sisters; Savannah (Willie) Robinson of Richmond, California; Minnie (Raymond) Goode of Victoria, Texas; Lillian (Aaron) Cannady of Fairfield, California; sister-in-laws, Darlene (Greg) Davis, Lisa (Michael) Smith, Barbara (Joe) Campbell, Sarah (Richard) Ramsey; brother-in-law; David Byrd. Gracie is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Wesley and Alice Hobbs; sisters, Bennie Mae Foster, Mattie Pearl Garrison and Alma Fucles; brothers Cleveland Hobbs, William S. Hobbs and James Wesley Hobbs, nephews; Joseph "Joe" West Jr and Lionel "Butch" Garrison Jr.
