Herman Taylor
July 30, 1947 ~ January 11, 2020
Herman Taylor passed away Saturday, January 11, 2020 at the age of 72. He was born July 30, 1947 in Hallsville, Texas to the late Leslie and Marvin Taylor. Herman served in the United States Army and loved his career as a surgical technician. He enjoyed football, barbequing, cooking, television, lottery tickets, and professional napping!
He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Marvin Jr. and Benartfernal Taylor; and three sisters, Jorene Taylor, Rosie Taylor, and Patricia Ann Taylor.
Herman Taylor leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Rener; his two children, Rhonda (Hershel) and Herman Jr. (Angie); his brother, Thomas Earl Taylor; his two sisters, Darlene Ray and Arlene Thompson; two aunts, Mary Helen Pier and Georgia Fossett; two granddaughters, Alexis Taylor and Mattilynn “Max” Taylor; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 27, 2020 at Meadowlawn Funeral Home with the funeral service to begin promptly at 12 noon. Officiants are Rev. Rickey Knighton and Rev. Otis Mitchell. Interment to follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with Military Honors.

I want to say I am very sorry, Herman was and ALWAYS be a good friend. My name is Emilio, and when I got out of the military and the NIX was my first civilian job, Herman looked after me, helping me adjust and not be so high strung, he would always tell me”Don’t sweat the small stuff”, and I would enjoy take small breaks and walk down to the store to pick up scratch off tickets, and he would tell me,”the good ones are the ones 50 and under”…and till this day, I never buy over the #50. I have so many stories and fond memories, and those are the ones that are gonna hell keep him around. I am so sorry for your loss Mrs Taylor, and pray that you have all the love and warmth from people that were able to know Herman, and the laughs he was able to bring into people lives and the guidance he would show to the people that came to him for advice or reassurance, because I know for sure I was one of them, and I am very blessed in getting to meet him in my lifetime.
My condolences to the family, Sgt Taylor was my platoon sgt at ft hood, tx in the late 70s, RIP my friend.
T was a very close friend of mine, We met in 1984 at ft Sam Houston,Tx 41st combat support hospital, He was always there for me and me for him, he was a great leader,friend and brother. Miss you T, Smitty
