Jessie Mae Baker

Jessie Mae Baker was born in Brady, Texas to Jesse Meredith and Alma Mae Casson on April 26, 1930. Jessie was greeted by Angels at the time of her death on March 22, 2014 at the age of 83 and her gentle soul has been restored by her Lord. She was a wonderful, loving and faithful wife; caring and selfless mother and grandmother at all times with a kind spirit and a great love for family and friends. Jessie was a good Christian woman and she fulfilled her beliefs in her day to day living. A happy person at all times, she could always be heard singing with her beautiful voice and she spoke eloquently. She had a wonderful sense of humor and everlasting wit . A resident of Kirby for over 40 years, she was active in her church, children's and grandchildren's lives. She enjoyed bowling and many years of bunco parties with her many dear friends. Jessie was preceded in death by her dear husband of 49 years, William (Bill) A. Baker; her sister Bettie Merchant; brothers Milford, Dale and Philip Casson. She is survived by her children Patricia Baker (Gerald Kuykendall) of Boerne; Cheryl Matthews (Jim Matthews) of Athens; Laura Barfield (Greg Barfield) of Castroville; and Nelson Baker (Rosalee Baker) of Pasadena. She leaves behind her beloved grandchildren; Jessica Baker, Kimberly Matthews, Garret Barfield, Kevin Barfield, Dylan Barfield and KiAnna Baker. Jessie also leaves behind her brother-in-law Wallace Merchant of Bryan and numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved very much. We will be celebrating Jessie's life with visitation on Friday March 28, 2014 at Meadowlawn Chapel in San Antonio from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Church services will be held on Saturday March 29, 2014 at 10:00 am at Northeast Church of Christ in San Antonio officiated by Joe N. Wiggins. Burial will be at Mt.
