Jessie Peterson

jessie peterson
Jessie Peterson, 65, of Adkins went to be with the lord on Wednesday, July 11, 2018, surrounded by his family. Jessie was born in San Antonio on Sept. 8, 1952, to Ben and Mary Jo Peterson. He was born into a large family of twelve children. He loved having so many siblings and enjoyed reminiscing about the old days of them all growing up and taunting each other. He graduated from South San High School in 1972. He later married the love of his life, Martha (Smith) Peterson on Dec. 13, 1975. From an early age, Jessie enjoyed deer hunting and fishing with his brothers and many friends over the years. He was a dedicated father to his two girls and full of advice whether they wanted it or not. He was a hard worker and found his true calling becoming a welder for City Public Service in 1985, there he met life long friends. He loved to BBQ and cook for his co-workers, friends and family. Everyone enjoyed eating his prize winning, first place, briskets and ribs that he competed with in cook-offs all over South Texas. He won many awards, trophies and a belt buckle for his delicious BBQ. He cooked for weddings, graduations, retirement parties and the Kilowatt Club get-togethers, everyone loved his cooking. After retiring he enjoyed traveling, going gambling, playing slot machines and making barbecue pits. He was so proud of his beautiful backyard full of trees, plants, vegetables and flowers. Whether sitting at the local bar or at his pic-nic table, he so enjoyed visiting with family and friends and was everyones adopted Pawpaw. His own grandkids just adored him and his sense of humor and always wanted to make him proud. He was a great husband, father, grandpa, brother and friend to all who knew him and "to know him was to love him". He will be missed by so many. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Mary Jo Peterson; brothers, Ben Peterson Jr., Charles Peterson and Walter Peterson, as well as his sister, Carylin Padier. Survivors include his beloved wife, Martha Peterson; daughters, Terry (Casey) Bosanko and Jeannie (Chad) Winter; grandchildren, Dustin Hardin (Marissa Murphy), Shelby Hardin, Caden Bosanko, Kyle Winter and Kinley Winter. He also leaves behind his beloved and faithful blue heeler, Blue. Jessie is loved and will be truly missed by all who knew him.
