Josef Schaefer

Josef Schaefer passed away March 20, 2019 at the age of 90. He was born January 8, 1929 to Katarina and Karl Schaefer. Josef was inducted April 11, 1951 and was transferred to the Army Reserve April 11, 1953. He was Honorably discharged from the Army on May 27, 1956 only to reenlist into the Airforce and was Honorably discharged May 27, 1959. He was very proud to serve in the United Sates Military but had great pride for his German heritage. Josef became a vocational teacher and taught at the Gary Job Corp. in San Marcos, TX. for 25 yrs. He enjoyed hanging out in his home playing his accordion and had a great love for soccer. Josef will be truly missed. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his children; Jimmy Lancaster, Debbie Lancaster, Rolf Schaefer, Helmut Schaefer, Elke Schaefer Allen and granddaughter, Lisa Lancaster.

Mr. Schaefer was a customer of mine for many years. Anytime he brought his car in he would be smiling and would have all of us laughing. Any man who carries his dogs photos in his wallet is destined for a special spot in heaven! You will be missed, sir. Love, Carla
