Joseph E. "Joe Boy" McAfee

Joseph Edgar McAfee was the 5th son and the 9th child, born to William and Charlotte McAfee. He was born February 17, 1933, in Hallettsville, TX. Joseph was a Hallettsville High School graduate "Class of 53’. Following graduation, he joined the Army and served for two years. Immediately after serving his country, he moved to San Antonio, Texas. In 1956, he attended St. Philips College, and graduated in 1960 with a degree in AAA Radio and T.V. Technician. In 1957 he and Lilly Pearl Williams of Lockhart, TX, were united in Holy Matrimony. To this union one son was born, Gregory McAfee. On August 22, 1964, he married Sarah Louise Brooks Williams. Joseph was a retired construction worker for H. B. Zachery Construction Company. He was a dedicated employee of Zachery for 40 years, followed by being a self-employed all-around handyman and landscaper. Joe Boy enjoyed life and was always fun to be around. Joseph was a God-fearing man who lived a very blessed life. He was a member of Bethel AME Methodist Church, and he served as an usher on Usher Board #1, a Trustee, and was a dedicated member of the outreach committee. Joseph was proceded in death by his parents, William and Charlotte McAfee; his siblings, Velma, Melvin, Willie Mae, Davie, Sr, Alex, Sr. and Harold McAfee; son, Sidney L. Williams and great grandson, Calvin McAfee. Joseph is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sarah McAfee; children, Gregory McAfee and Joseph R. Williams; siblings; Delton King and Doris Walker; grandchildren, Lamika Tucker, Kendra Aguilar, Gregory McAfee, Jr., Nevaeh McAfee, Jose "Joe" Rodriguez, Angela Williams, Tina Williams and Xavier Williams and twenty one great-grandchildren, five great great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
