Josephine Ortiz

josephine ortiz
Josephine "TITO" Ortiz passed away peacefully on March 23, 2016 to join hands with the Lord that she worshipped and loved. She will be remembered as a Mother and Grandmother whose greatest joy came from her Family. Josie will be reunited with all her family who preceded her in death, all way too long ago, and most recently her cherished daughter Terry and son-in-law Raul. She will climb trees and run in the warm sun of Campbellton, Texas with her brothers Luciano, Benny, Isaias (Tayo) and Marcos; and of course her most beloved sister Guadalupe under the watchful eyes of their long lost Mother and Aunt Eva. Then the love of her life, Jose Luz Ortiz will greet her at the entrance of the Bob Hill pier with his rod and reel and a cold beer and they will take the slow stroll to the end to catch up on lost time with Lady Dog and Whitney Cat following closely behind. At the end of the pier, they will begin their long overdue Family reunion with her embracing Terry, just as she did when she and Joe returned from Houston. It was a grasp that silently proclaimed she never wanted to be apart again. They are all healthy, happy, and vital again. This is the Paradise that awaits her. This is the Heaven that she has earned with her love and good heart and good deeds that were carried out in the glory of God. A simple lady who taught us the simplest things are the greatest treasures. Josie is survived by her son Richard Matthews, her grandchildren Lydia Borroel, Raul Ramos Jr., and Annamarie Ramos, as well as several great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her beloved niece Grace Salinas and her husband Paul and their extended family: Lisa, Paul Jr., Robert Cesar, and Suzanne. Her son would like to thank them for their compassion and assistance after her dementia diagnosis. All of them provided her with cherished memories that kept her smiling and laughing for her entire life. Those of us who are left, grieve profoundly for our loss, but take joy in knowing she no longer suffers and is happier than ever as she deserves to be. Josie also leaves behind her beloved companion, Willis Cat, who she rescued and who watched over her as she slept. The Family would like to thank Michelle and Lisa of Alamo Hospice for their care for her as time took its toll on her. Special thanks are extended to Dr. Llanos and Ms. Anna Gonzales at the MCCI DeLeon Clinic for affording her the type of dignity and respect that fades with each passing generation. Thank you to Ms. Baker and the staff at MeadowLawn for treating her as our queen. A memorial service will be held 5:30-8:00 pm, Friday, April 8, 2016, with a Rosary to be recited at 6:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, we would ask that you make a donation to your charity or to St. Margaret Mary Church, in the spirit of Josie's selflessness. Guestbook

  1. To the friends and family of Josephine Ortiz….I came across a scripture found in God’s word the Bible in the book of Acts 24:15 which reads: And I have hope toward God, which hope these men also look forward to, that there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous. I hope this scripture brings you comfort and know that this is a promise that God gives us for the future. My condolences go out to your family and friends. Mrs. Aguirre

  2. My grandma ITA, I know that you lived a long life (90 years). I’m going to miss you. You instilled so much good in my mom, which I instilled from her and my daughter from me. Our family was small and now that the three most important people in my life who raised me are gone it breaks my heart again. But I know you all are in a better place, with no pain. I was blessed to have such a wonderful grandmother. Tell my parents hello for me and that I love and miss them very much too. Love you Ita.

Love from your eldest grand daughter Lydia
