Joyce Marie (Highland) Alderman was born February 17, 1944 in San Antonio, Texas. She is preceded in death by mother, Stella Mae White, father, Johnny Highland, stepfather, Orlando V. Gonzales Sr., aunts, Winona Daniels, and Ollie Mae Newton. She received her primary education in San Antonio Independent School District and graduated from Phyllis Wheatley High School in 1962. Joyce was united in holy matrimony to Garland P. Alderman on May 1, 1965 and two children were born. She raised her family on the Eastside of San Antonio. Joyce pursued a degree in Nursing and worked in the medical field both professionally and private. Her last employment was at the Crestway Rehabilitation Center. She was a loving daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and caring friend until our heavenly father called her home on Sunday, November 27, 2016. Her parents were both musicians in the church where Joyce professed Christ at an early age. She later joined True Vine Church in 1998 under the leadership of Overseer Trevor Alexander where she served until her health declined in 2003. After which she resided at Paramount Senior Care Center until her demise. She leaves behind to mourn her passing two children, her son, Eric Wayne Alderman Sr. with grandson, Eric Wayne Jr. and granddaughter, Crystal Nicole; and daughter, Garletta Joyce (Suid) Alderman-Mitchell with grandsons, Reginald (Kiera) Alderman and great-grandchildren, Davon, Tamara, Tye, and Lyfe; grandson, Rashaud (Rosemarie) Alderman and great-grandchildren, Jiselle, Alyssa, and Romeo; and grandson, Ma Kenan Mitchell; her siblings, Johnny Highland, Orlando Gonzales Jr., Kathryn (Swygeant) Gonzales Adams; three nieces and six nephews. She leaves to cherish her memory a host of family and friends.
