Loretta L. Mosley

Loretta Lenice Williams Mosley entered into eternal rest, Saturday evening, May 14, 2016. She was born to the late Beatrice and Johnny Williams on May 8, 1947 in Dallas County. The late Arie Barefield, known as Aunt Arie, raised Loretta in Victoria, Texas. Loretta attended schools in the Victoria County Independent School District and graduated from Victoria High School. She also graduated from St. Phillip's College in San Antonio, Texas as a Licensed Vocational Nurse. Loretta was joined in Holy Matrimony on June 6, 1969 in Corpus Christi, Texas to the late Rev. Morris Henry Mosley, Sr. Loretta held several demanding positions within the Healthcare Delivery System. She was a Charge Nurse for over 40 years at Santa Rosa Hospital, Brighton Gardens Nursing Facility, St. Mary's University (The Brother Unit), Normandy Terrace Nursing Home and a home health nurse with James Johnson Home Health Care, Inc. Loretta was an amazing sister to her four siblings, Jackie, Myrtle, Dian and Eddie B; she took on the role of Mother/Big Sister after the death of their mother. She raised them admirably without complaining. Her amazing Christian Journey began when she accepted Christ at an early age. She served from childhood until marriage at St. Peter's Baptist Church under the late Rev. J.S. Smith in Victoria, Texas. Following her marriage they moved to San Antonio, Texas where she united with Greater Corinth Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Rev. Alexander. Later she joined Christian Unity Baptist Church under the late Rev. Johnson and the late Rev. R.A. Hicks. Loretta was a charter member of Canaan Missionary First Baptist Church. She served faithfully under Rev. Glenn P. Taylor and Rev. Alywin L. Parker and continued to serve under her present pastor, Rev. Joe Theus. Loretta lived an active life in the church, serving as a Sunday School Superintendent, Director of Baptist Training Union (BTU), Youth Director Advisor, President of Missions, faithful Usher and secretary of the City Wide Missionary Society #3. She loved good preaching and good teaching of the Bible. Loretta was a prayer intercessor, she was a faithful missionary and had a heart after God's heart which reflected in her character. She was a model example of what she taught her church, family, friends and community. She had a strong desire for righteousness and was filled with God's compassion and love for others. Loretta had a beautiful gift of restoring other people and carrying God's word and passing on scriptures to all she met. Study the Word! Study the Word! this was her resounding motto for guidance. Loretta was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents, Bib Mama Myrtle and Papa Ned; sister, Myrtle Williams; brother, Eddie B; Aunt, Cleo Spencer and great aunt Arie Barefield. Loretta's amazing life and memory will be cherished by her beloved children; Sandy Mosley Avery (Mark); Rev. Morris H. Mosley, Jr. (Joyce), Deborah Mosley Bennett (Morris); grandchildren, Logan, Matthew Avery, Daniel, Andrew, Vyctor, James, Joshua, Matthew Mosley, Bryan and Kristen; sisters, Rev. Dr. Jacqueline Davies, Dian Jones and Judy Williams; sister and brother-in-law, Elena Williams and Rev. Larry G. Davies; Nieces, Tiffany, Nateefah, Angela, Tina and Pamela; nephews, Reginald, Bryant and Joe; Special Aunt, Lucille Frank known affectionately as Aunt Honey Baby; grat nieces and nephews, Briana, Brooklyn, Marley, Kendlyn, Ashley, Arlynn, Sydnie, Diamond, Velyncia, Alliah, Bryant, Jr., Juday, Bentley, Tyronne, Joe, Jr., Mylz, Keith, Charlie, Cedric, Austin, Amari and Alden. There are many more relatives and friends that will always cherish her memory.
