Lucille's Loving Legacy Lucille O. English was born May 20, 1927 in Trinity, Texas to Marvin English and Lue Emmie English. She was one of eleven children. She was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings Annie Jones, Lona Strange, Susie McCleave, Jimmie Lee Pruitt, Daniel English, Jimmy English, Marvin English, Johnny Dell English, and Mozell English. Lucille grew up in Trinity where she attended school and graduated from Trinity Colored High School. She was baptized at an early age at Lone Star Baptist Church in Trinity, Texas. In later years, Lucille moved to San Antonio where she attended San Antonio College and St. Philip’s College receiving a degree in Nursing. Lucille was united in marriage on August 14, 1959 to Ralph Scott who preceded her in death. She attended Antioch Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Rufus Wilson where she worked faithfully on the Usher Board and served as Treasurer. Later she moved her membership to Coliseum Baptist Church. Once this membership split she moved her membership to True Vision Church under the leadership of Rev. Gregory Jones. At TVC she served as President of the Mission, she also served diligently on the Usher Board, Pulpit Ministry, Trustee Board, Outreach Ministry, Nursing Home Hospitality and many other ministries. She continued to serve in these same ministries under the leadership of Pastor Michael Steve Brown. Lucille was a faithful member and activist of the Neighborhoods First Alliance where she worked faithfully under the leadership of President Tommy C. Calvert. She was a member of the San Antonio Police Department program Cellular on Patrol (COP). She received a certificate from the Citizen's Police Academy. She was also an active member of the Coliseum Willow Park Neighborhood Association. Lucille leaves to cherish her memories, one daughter Eula English-Dozier (John Dozier) of Trinity; two granddaughters, Lena Boston (Major C.J. Boston USMC) of Houston, Lula DeBose (Pastor Isaac DeBose) of Trinity; 7 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, a beloved sister Beaulah Cook of Houston, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends too numerous to count.

  1. Aunt Lucille will surely be missed. She and I would often share by telephone the Good News of our Lord, Savior, Jesus Christ. She was always so welcoming to me and I do appreciate the times we spent together. I can image our Lord saying ‘Welcome home my good and faithful servant’! Rest well Aunt Lucille!!
