Michael Dennis Armstrong was born in Waelder, Texas on April 4, 1951 to the parents of Arthur Armstrong and Etta James. He attended school in Waelder, Texas and later furthered his education in the San Antonio Independent School District where he attended Riley Junior High School and graduated from Brackenridge High School in 1969. After graduating high school, he joined the U.S. Air Force. Upon completing his time in the service, he began his Barber Career here in San Antonio, Texas. Michael was a barber for 45 years and was well known throughout the San Antonio, Houston and Atlanta area. Several of the San Antonio Spurs Basketball Players were his regular customers. Barbering was his passion. He made sure the community was taken care of by offering free haircuts during Black History month. Michael proudly can say he was one of the top barbers in San Antonio. On July 9, 2007 Michael married Christine Walker and they enjoyed 13 wonderful years together. Michael’s hobbies and interest were vast. He had a passion for raising and breeding all breeds of dogs. He loved watching western movies, the Spurs were his favorite team to watch but his most enjoyable passion was cooking, especially roast duck. On Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at the Metropolitan Methodist Hospital the Lord called Michael to his Heavenly Home. He is preceded in death by his mother, Etta Young; father, Arthur Armstrong; brothers, Julius Armstrong, Sr., Arthur Armstrong, Jr. and Don Wayne Armstrong. Michael is survived by his wife, Christine Armstrong of San Antonio, Texas; daughter, Chaka Mia Sarah Etta Price (Ben) of Cummings, Georgia; sister, Willie Faye Armstrong of Houston, Texas; brothers, Johnnie D. Mims (Cheryl) of San Antonio, Texas and Harvey Armstrong (Sharon) of Norcross, Georgia; grandsons, Cameron Moore and Dominic Patterson; granddaughter, Mia Patterson as well as a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives and friends.

  1. To the Armstrong Family: I have been knowing Michael since I was 6 years old. He is my favorite barber in the world. I am so sad to hear that he has passed on. Michael is just a good person and fun to be around. I have followed Mike to every shop he has worked in and now Heaven has a great barber. Michael you will always be missed but you have a special place in my heart. You told me so much and you taught so much about growing up. We all love you Michael but God loves you best. You have earned your wings and you are soaring with the Lord. Michael A. Armstrong has reported for duty with God and now you may RIP! God is good all the time.   4. At the age of now 45, the little girl in me is longing for her Daddy. My relationship with my Father had plenty of challenges, but it still represented an important key to my identity. It doesn’t matter how old you are, loosing a parent truly hurts. Rest in eternal peace Dad! I love you and also your Grandchildren 😥
