Minister Phillip L. Edwards

minister phillip edwards
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth, there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. II Timothy 4:7-8 Minister Phillip L. Edwards, Sr, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 7, 2018. He was born in Lexington, Kentucky, on October 10, 1954 to Leo and Ethel Edwards. Minister Edwards was the Assistant Pastor of Sojourner Life Ministries - Strength For The Journey. He was a true Warrior that fought a good fight and never once complained because he trusted and believed that God was able and specialized in doing the impossible. He was affectionately known as the Love Doctor and a gentle being who cherished his family and took great pleasure in serving Gods people. He was a gifted singer, cook, cartoon artist, built model cars and airplanes, and loved his country music and NASCAR Racing. Minister Edwards was preceded in death by his parents, and a younger sister, Athleen Edwards. He was united in marriage to Bernice Ripley Edwards with whom he shared over 38 years of marriage. In that union was born a daughter, Christina Davis, a son, Phillip Edwards, Jr, son-in-law, Jamar, daughter-in-law, Chantel, four grandchildren, Eugene, Alexis, Danielle, and Jae Lee; older sister Christine Hale, and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives, and friends. A precious one from us is gone A voice we loved is stilled A place is vacant in our house That never can be filled. He will not be forgotten Though on earth he is no more But in memory he is with us As he always was before. - The Family -

  4. Your life was a blessing. Your memory a treasure. You are loved beyond words. And will be missed beyond measure. Love you uncle.

  5. I remember all the trouble you use to get me in when we were children, wiggling your ears at the dinner table, and when you would tease mama’s dogs with the bicycle pump. I will always cherish our talks on the Great Love you had for your family and the one most desire which was to preach one more time before you left this earth. The candle flame has been blown out but the flame remains burning in my heart. I loved you brother but God loved you more.

Family you are loved. Aunt Christine

  6. To me he was Pop. He had the softest heart and will be missed greatly. He is in heaven now singing like never before.

  7. To the Edwards family, Our prayers and heartfelt condolences go out to your family. Minister Edwards was truly a great man and always a joy to be around. We will remember his love for Jesus, his family and serving God in the ministry. We will also miss that magnificent voice that always blessed all that heard him sing. May the love of Jesus provide you comfort and peace during this time. Elder Hall and family

  8. And the Lord said unto him, “Well done, my good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, so I will make thee ruler over many things: ENTER THOU INTO THE JOY OF THY LORD”. MATTHEW 25, VERSE 23. A faithful servant, a great family man! A Quiet and gentle soul has been called home to be with the Lord! Over the 38 years that I knew Phillip Edwards, his faith never wondered, nor waned! For if he was anything in life, he was a child of GOD and loved to serve him! Sometimes overshadowed by the bigger personalities around him, he never wavered, but continued to practice the word of GOD…..never boastful, loud or wanting to be seen! He truly lived a CHRISTIAN LIFE! Brother Phillip, it has been a lot of years since I last saw you! I will always have very fond memories of our early times together in Lexington, Ky. To Berny, Tina, Phillip Jr. and families…. In this world, ye shall have trials and tribulations! But be of good cheer for he has overcome the world! No more suffering, no more crying, no more pain, no criticisms’ or judgements made about him! For he can now reach out and touched the hem of Jesus’s garment! Count it all done, close the books, leave it all at the altar! Allow Brother Phillip to Rest In Peace! May GOD continue to bless you all! Much love, The Fletcher family

  9. Our condolences to the family. Minister Edward’s will be missed. We know that he is in heaven rejoicing with the Lord.

  10. At this time of deep and very personal sadness… Please know that caring thoughts and heartfelt sympathy are with you.

  11. I’m so sorry to hear of the passing of my cousin Phillip. My Mom and I had just said a few weeks ago that we were going to try to get in touch with him. I had surgery on August 8th and I’m at home recuperating and decided to look him up. I’m heartbroken that I was too late. Sending prayers to the family. Please send me an email to acwrbrown3 @yahoo.com so that I can send you all a copy of the Edwards Family history that I’ve been working on. It has the history of your Gr-grandfather Hill Edwards and his 13 children. I had hoped to send a copy to Phillip. You all have my prayers.

  12. Sorry for the loss of your loved one. My deepest sympathy and condolences goes out to you and your family. The Bible calls God the source of life Acts 17:24,25 so have faith that God is certainly capable of restoring life to someone who has died so be assured that you will see your loved one again. God sees death as the enemy 1 Corinthians 15:26 and I pray he gives you comfort in your time of need. There have been eight instances in the Bible of humans young, old, male, and female who God brought back to life on earth John 11:39-44 and he yearns to bring back your loved one who are in his memory Job 14:14,15. I pray that God of comfort gives you strength and the ability to endure during this time and that you rely on him when you feel weak. In Jesus name I pray Amen
