July 30, 1927 - January 27, 2018 Mitchell G. Tom Tomasini, Jr. passed away peacefully on January 27, 2018, at the age of 90. Tom was born on July 30, 1927 in San Antonio. He grew up on his familys ranch on Bitters Rd. and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School, then joined the Merchant Marines. Upon his return, he met his wife Mary Ellen Van Riper, whom he married in 1950. For a time, Tom worked at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, however he soon found his lifelong niche working in sales, finally retiring at the age of 86. He and his wife Mary Ellen relocated to Boerne in 1990. Tom was a loving and devoted son, husband, brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He was an avid supporter of Boerne baseball, basketball and 4-H, and loved hunting in Colorado. He truly enjoyed meeting with family and friends to share conversations and meals at Whataburger, Magues Caf and the Rainbow Senior Center. He will be remembered for his kindness to both people and pets, and for his knack for jokes and storytelling. He is preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Mary Ellen; his parents; and his brother, Jake. He is survived by his two brothers, Robert and Tex; two daughters, Claire Segovia and husband Timo, Mary Bennett and husband Steve; four grandchildren, Heather Alston and husband Wes, Cassie Peeples and husband Mason, Sean Segovia and wife Haley, Sterling Bennett and wife Katie; and four great-grandchildren, Poppy Alston, Beau Segovia, and Amelia and Graham Peeples who all loved him dearly. We will miss him, but have peace knowing he is with loved ones in Heaven.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. May the God of all comfort strengthen the family during this time of deep sorrow. Those who pass on, God keeps in his memory because they are precious in his eyes. My sincerest condolences. (Psalms 116:15)

  2. My love and sympathy to all of you. I will cherish all my memories of Tommy and all the family reunions. Goldie Tomasini Casteel

  3. Tommy and my dad Walter “Sug” Autry were friends forever. They always had stories. He always made me smile. One of the nicest men ever.

  4. I met Tommy at the senior center when I asked him about the Texas Rangers badge he was wearing and we became friends instantly. I always looked forward to seeing his beautiful smile each morning as I arrived to work and remember how proud he was on his 90th birthday. He was truly a special man and will be missed by many! Praying that all the wonderful memories shared carry his friends and family through this difficult time.
