On Wednesday, June 16, 2021, the sunset and the race ended for Ms. Myra LaNette Wilson (Mother) at the age of 75 after a lengthy illness. She was born on January 1, 1946, in Lubbock, Texas, to Charlie Walker and A. C. Walker (Kuykendall) who preceded her in death. LaNette and her parents relocated to San Antonio residing on the historic eastside in the neighborhood of Denver Heights where she attended Cuney primary and Douglass middle schools in addition to joining and faithfully attending the Coliseum Park Church of Christ (now Dellcrest Church of Christ). LaNette did not complete her formal education opting for marriage and a family. After raising her 6 children she returned to school and obtained several certifications and her GED. She went on to attend St. Phillip’s College where she earned her Associate of Applied Sciences in Nursing. She then worked as a Licensed Vocational Nurse until she retired from Morning Side Ministries. LaNette enjoyed crafting and was known for her handmade and well-thought-out colorful flower arrangements. She also became adept at making wreaths for all occasions and was often sought out by others to make bouquets and arrangements for weddings and various other events. Encouraged through continuous witnessing by her sister, Emma, about the love and redemption for all through Jesus Christ, LaNette became a member of the Greater Lincoln Park Temple. Though she had several church homes she remained faithful to Christ attending service until her health would no longer allow her to be present at Greater New Genesis Christian Center. LaNette was preceded in death by her daughter Avis, parents, Charlie and A. C. Walker; grandparents, Henry and Ada Kuykendall of Floresville, Texas; Aunt(s) Ida Mitchell (Kuykendall) and Ethel Cook; and Uncle, Daniel Mitchell. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Avery Walker (Debra Sapenter), Theresa Freeland (Kimberly Smith), Andrea Freeland, Arlisa Freeland, and Andre Wilson (Jennifer Spears); grandchildren, Nicolas, Jordyn, Keith (Sophia), Eugene (Danielle), Andre (Shaniqua), Aniah, Qualin, Zaria, Andrea Harris (Emery); and great-grandchildren, Jalandus, Zileesia, Keith Jr., Jaden, Brooklyn, Javontae, Javeon, and Legacy Harris; a goddaughter, Angela Smiley, and a godson, Lowell Smith, along with a host of other relatives and friends.

Guestbook

  1. I loved Lynette very much. We are cousins. Our mother’s are sisters. I am exactly 6 months older than her. I was born on July 1 and she was born on 1 January. We played together when we’re small kids and stayed in touch as adults. I will miss her dearly. As a child I can remember looking forward to spending the week-end with her and Aunt AC. They were rich. They lived in a big home with a bathtub and a toilet. She always shared her pajama sets with me. They had pet rabbits, real ice cream cones, and a case of coke cola on their fended in patio. My deepest condolences to the family. I am praying for you. Aunt Pat.

  2. Wishing you peace to bring comfort, courage to face the days ahead and loving memories to forever hold in your hearts.
