Nona B. Boyd

nona boyd
There are many things in life that we cannot understand but we must trust God's judgement and be guided by His hands, for He has promised never to leave us nor forsake us. On October 30, 1936 in San Antonio, Texas, Nona Beatrice Boyd was born to Willie R. Woods, Sr. and Blanche Gonzales Woods. She attended the local public schools in San Antonio. It was at Corinth Baptist Church where she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. Sis. Boyd provided a shoulder to lean on for her family and others through the years. She was always eager to help others. She loved cooking, so not only did she provide a shoulder to lean on or a listening ear, she would prepare a home cooked meal for you as well. She fed a lot of people her delicious meals. Sis. Boyd worked for over 40 years at Astro Bowling. The challenges in her life taught her the importance of having faith in the Lord. She was an amazing mother, sister, wife, grandmother, great grandmother, friend and of course, cook. However, the responsibility God gave her as "Mother" is the title she was most pleased with and which she shall receive her greatest trophy. Sis. Boyd was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Archie L. Boyd; son, Charles D. Knight; daughters Brenda Knight Bell and Charlesetta Johnson and brother, Samuel Woods. She leaves to cherish her memory, son, Melvin L. Knight (Carolyn); daughters, Cynthia Chase, Cheryl Killebrew, and Mary Clay (Raymond); sisters, Celestine Martin, Bonnie Gonzales, Johnnie Mae Brown, Daisy Minor and Terrie Thomas and brothers, Kenny Brown, Ivory Brown, David Brown, James Brown, Rev. Adolph Woods, and Willie Woods, Jr. along with a host of grandchildren, great grandchldren and other relatives and friends.

  4. To the family of Mrs Nona ; She has made a wonderful imprint on my life. She took me in like one of her own children. Kept me from getting in trouble after school by taking me with her and Mary while they ran errands. She made sure my mother knew that I was with them! We had great laughs and great conversations. I know God has better plans for her than we do. She will be missed!
