Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. The memory of the young man, Reuben that called me Sis. Gayle and smiled when he shook my hand. It was a surprise when he found me on Facebook to reconnect after YEARS of not being in contact since our lives intersected @ NCC in his formative years. Lord, cover his wife, children, brothers and sister to allow them to breathe to keep the wonderful memories alive. Blessings. Gayle Jones-Smith

  2. He held onto me when I was a Baby, He would laugh, tell jokes, Bring all the Love, Positively to everyone in the family. That’s what was so great about him, I will miss him so much and I live you uncle Reuben.

  3. I remember the day when Mama brought our new brother Reuben home we were amazed by his reddish hair and color. As a child he was quiet and laughed often. I am so proud to be his big brother. We both loved being in sales/management countless strategy talks and laughs. Never a cross word between us. Kinda rare with family members. He never missed an opportunity to tell me he loved me each time we spoke.

  4. Our precious younger brother. Our mom was in the back of the church when her water broke. My auntie’s scruffy ran to their sister and grandma took us home. A few days later a baby boy Reuben was born. Reuben-Allen-Gardner joined the ROTC at Mumford High school in Detroit, Mi. He enlisted in the Army where the was sent to San Antonio,Tx and met Rachel. He called me and said “Marguerite I found my wife and she looks like you.” It’s been a glorious union of ❤️ for over 20 years. Praying for all of you❤️❤️🙏🏽

  5. My cousin Reuben, the last time we physically saw each other I remember your ever bright smile and great hug. I’m glad we had the chance to say, “I love you”. There are countless memories of all of the grands coming together at either our grandparents home or to each of the sisters’. I’m grateful for the time we shared and I will always keep the memory of you in my heart.

  6. What can I say or reflect upon. The night the ranger team was in full camouflage carrying out drills while ducking the cops? Or the citywide drill competition, or the Military Ball at Brodhead Naval Armory, or the fact that getting to shoot real weapons in the basement on the rifle range before school started, got us up and to the school at 0600? I could go on. I’ve ALWAYS remembered those days fondly with a healthy dose of nostalgia. We both became soldiers in the U.S. Army. Reuben was a friend, and though we hadn’t seen each other in years, we were only 3 hours away with some joint brisket plans in the works. It is unreal that he’s gone. May God bless all of those he had to leave here, especially Rachel and their family. If you ever need something that we can supply, we’re 4 hours up the road and ready to help where we can… Dallas Walker III

  17. My deepest sympathy for your loss. I laughed when I read that he was quiet as a child because he must have saved all those words up for his adulthood! Your brother was a great friend and co-worker. He will be missed by us at DR Horton. I can’t imagine the loss his family is feeling as he talked about his family so often that you knew how much everyone meant to him. The entire Gardner family is in my prayers.

  18. To William, Jean, and family: You are in our prayers and may the memories of your brother bring smiles—from Ministers Christopher and Adrienne Claxton in Illinois.

  19. I haven’t quite figured out how will be without you! The one thing that comfort my heart, is the fact that you’re not suffering! We didn’t come from the same Womb, but you was my brother in every way. I was blessed to have had you to call, give advice, and care about me, as your sister! More importantly, I thank you for being a Big brother, and Dear friend, to our brother, C.J.! You’re the only one who could keep him in line. Now, you’ve left that major task to all of us. I owe you for that! I love you always & forever! Your sister in love, Charisma (Lady)❤️
