Richard Dwight Bishop

Richard Dwight Bishop, age 74, passed away in San Antonio, Texas on November 25, 2019 after a long illness, he is no longer
in pain and is finally at peace. Richard was born in New Braunfels, Texas on September 3, 1945 to Elroy 'Shorty' Bishop and
Alleen Joyce (Ivey) Bishop. Richard is preceded in death by his father Elroy and mother Alleen.
Richard is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Iris Charlene 'Missy' (Yost) Bishop, by his sisters Patricia Machuca
& husband Pete of New Braunfels; Paula Weyel of New Braunfels; and Julia Franklin & husband Richard of Newport, North Carolina.
Richard leaves behind several in-laws, numerous nieces and nephews and friends all who loved him. Richard’s kindness and generosity
will be greatly missed by all.
Richard served in Vietnam with the United States Army and after his honorable discharge, became a Texas licensed master electrician
and ultimately started and operated his own construction business for many years until his retirement. After the death of his father,
he took ownership and operated the Western Broiler Cafe in San Antonio, Texas for many years until his second retirement. His retirement
years were spent with his loving wife in the home they built together in New Braunfels, Texas.
Richard’s ashes will be interred at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery where a graveside memorial will be held at a later date

Richard was always kind and out going, we love going to south Texas hunting with him and Missy. We went to the dog races with them and Uncle Jack and had too many people in Uncle Jacks van. Always had so much fun. Love these two people dearly. Now Richard and Wayne are in heaven together, I,m sure they are trying to get the Air Conditioner working on the bus. Love you Missy! Donna Wiley
Uncle Richard was one of the funniest most genuine men I ever got the pleasure of knowing. I will not be able to attend the funeral because of work, but I am so so glad I got to see him in his final months. Even in his last days he was joking around… I will never ever forget the countless memories I have had with him and the rest of the family during the summer times on the river. I loved him dearly 🖤 Say hi to Mamaw for me 🙏
