Samuel "Sammy" Simmons Jr.

samuel simmons jr.
“I love you!” This is how Samuel Simmons, Jr. would end every phone conversation, according to family and friends. Jr. or Sam, as he was called, was a great father, son, brother, uncle and friend. People could all agree, Sam was a gentle soul that could warm hearts of many with his jokes, laughter, smile, and giving spirit. Samuel Simmons, Jr. was born in San Antonio, Texas on August. 17, 1958 to Samuel, Sr. and Ruby Simmons. Sam, along with most family members helped build their father’s Asphalt and Concrete Company into a successful business that employed many people over the years. Sam then went to work for San Antonio City Public Service until his retirement. Sam was not resting though, and started a lawn service to keep busy. Sam was not only loving to family and friends, he volunteered feeding the needy and gave back to the community on a regular basis. While spending quality time with family and friends, having God in his life was important. Sam was a member of Corner Gate Christian Church, Praise Team. His beautiful voice was always an instrument of praise to God. Sam enjoyed family, food, fun and seeing others doing better in life. Anyone who had the privilege to know Sam, would say he was a good person and brought laughter to all. Sam was a champion, warrior and hero for us all. While we uphold his memory, he will be extremely missed. Samuel Simmons, Jr. joins his father and others who have gone before us. Sam leaves his legacy to his son Samuel Edward Simmons and memories for us all, his mother, Ruby Simmons, his siblings, Scheryl Garcia, Paulette (Curtis W.) Randolph, Timmy (Synthia) Simmons, April Simmons, DeBora (Derrick) Edmondson; Nieces and nephews, DeAnsin, Trae, Satoria Simmons and Jaiden Arceneaux, Curtis, Glenda, and Nessira Randolph, Timmy (Ray Ray), Layla, Timayia Simmons, and Antoine and Saniah Simmons; special friends, Kerry Steele, Barbara Davis, Sheba Fuller, and many beloved relatives and friends.
