Sharon L Carter

Sharon L. Carter was born to the union of Miss Lenzie Mae Brooks and Mr. James Owens Sr. on November 19, 1946. Sharon met Matthew Carter and they united in holy matrimony, they had two lovely children, Terry Louise and Jerry Lynn Carter.
Sis. Carter worked for 36 years as an LVN, and went on to obtain her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Master’s Degree in Hospital Administration, as well as a second Master’s Degree in Human Resources. Sis. Carter served as the National President for Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Incorporated for several years, and continued her faithful services in different positions within the organization for over 30 years until her passing.
One of Sis. Carters many accomplishments was as the founder of “Ladies of the 80’s” which was an active force serving the communities throughout San Antonio.
Sis. Carter confessed her joy in Christ early in life, which led to her serving as a faithful and active member in church throughout her life.
Those left to cherish loving and fond memories include her children Terry and Jerry Carter; her grandson Jalen Mercer; her brothers James and Rodney Owens; many nieces nephews and a host of other family and friends.

Onward Christian soldiers! Marching as to war, With the cross of Jesus Going on before. Christ, the royal Master, Leads against the foe; Forward into battle, See, His banners go! Cousin Sharon and Sister in CHRIST was truly a Witness and Soldier of the Cross. She signed her Spirit-filled messages with JOY (JESUS, Others, You). Her Soul was anchored in the LORD. She kept her mind and her heart stayed on JESUS. She is done with the troubles of the world, she fought the good fight, the only fight that matters. Well done your were a good and faithful servant until the end. We shared Sunday School lessons and prayed together on many occasions even a week before you were called home. This I know for our Bible tells us on December 30 you closed your eyes to this world and immediately opened your eyes in your prepared place in the arms of Jesus Christ. I will dearly miss you my friend, my Sister in Christ!!!
Sharon was my best friend. We have known each other over 40 years. She was so good to me and to so many others. Sharon was the kind of friend you need in good times and in bad times. She prayed with me, mourned with me, and laughed with me. She was a sister in Christ, Sister friend, and my sister, period. She took care of me, my son, and my mother. She was always there. I will miss her dearly. I will miss her like crazy. Rest in the arms of Jesus, Sharon. I love you Janice and Winston Williams. .
My deepest sympathy and prayers to Beau and Terri and your family, As you know Sharon has been my friend over 40 years and my fondest memories of her is that when I came to Wheatley Heights Baptist Church she befriended me and also became my son godmother. And we have been friends every since even when I moved to Colorado and was gone for 10 years and then came back we remain friends and she’s pretty much always been in my life. Now she’s gone to be with the Lord.but she will be forever in my Heart. Beau and Terri I leave you with the Scriptures. The Lord is close to the Brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit Psalm 34:18, also, Well we believe that Jesus died and rose again and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him Thessalonians 4:14. May God wrap his arms around you and the entire family and give you peace we love you all and are so blessed to have known Sharon love always Glenda and Bobby and Robin.

We were only able to visit in person a couple of times but Aunt Sharon took the time to get to know Drake and us. We were so appreciative, she was a true blessing. Prayers to the family.
