Sydney Lee Wooten

sydney wooten
Sydney Lee Wooten went to be with our Lord Saturday, March 30, 2019 at the age of 78 years. She was born February 6, 1941 in Lake Charles, LA to the late Mary Eugene and Sydney Lee Richards. Sydney was a loving mother, grandmother, mother-in-law and a great friend to all. She had a passion for helping others. She attended Texas Tech University out of high school , her career choice was becoming an EMS Paramedic for over 30 years. Sydney loved her horses and was barrel racer in the rodeo circuit in her earlier years. She enjoyed arts and crafts and dedicated her spare time in educating herself in the art of ceramics, rock painting, photography, with a focus on the American Indian culture. Upon her move to San Antonio she became an avid fan of the SPURS and never missed watching a game, when given the opportunity to meet and greet several SPURS at Top Golf, she was so excited because it was a highlight of her bucket list. A special thanks to Armando and Maggie Saldana who are not only our best friends but also Sydney's, they not only gave of themselves but gave us and her their all just like FAMILY. Sydney's passion for caring & saving lives gave her the vision of turning her home into an Assisted Care Living Facility, which is a project we started before her passing and I will complete in here memory. In lieu of Flowers, we would appreciate any donations towards her dream to get it up & running. If you have anything that you can contribute to "Syd's Country Care Assisted Living", Please contact me @ 210-601-9085, on how to donate in completing her dream. She will be dearly missed by her daughter, Danielle Wooten-Castillo, her son -n-law Mario Castillo; her granddaughter, Alexis Taylor; brother, Johnny Richards & family, sister, Mary Jean Pidgeon & family, and her long life friend & my GodMother Vickie Baker & family. Memorial Services will be held in Houston, date to be announced.

  1. I am sorry for your loss, Ms. Wooten seemed to be a very loving & caring person. In Acts 24:15 it says “There is going to be a resurrection,” for all & we should have that hope to look forward too. Jehovah God cannot lie -Titus 1: 2. My sincere condolences for the loss of your loved one.

  2. We were so blessed to have known you Sydney may you ride the horses 🐴 in heaven and paint all your beautiful memories, and when the Spurs play give them a little luck! You will be missed Maggie & Armando Saldana

  3. My love and condolences to all of you. The memories i have are so many. When all of you (kids) were growing up and living next door. All the crafty things we did going from Dorinda to your house to my house. The fantastic trips to the ranch. Visiting once you moved to S.A.and Bob’s second home!! Even if it was a year that went by, i knew we would pick back up like it was yesterday. Friendships like that are one of a kind.

  4. I remember how Sydney was my second mom while I was in high school. I was at her house, more than my own. She was the adult I could always ask the embarrassing questions of and a mentor while I was in nursing school. Danielle, thank you for sharing your mom with me. I love you both. Melissa

  5. When I first met Sydney I recognized a spunk and determination in her. She had a heart of gold and cared for people even with an attitude of her own 😊. She was a beautiful soul and Heaven is blessed to now have her singing joyfully on the streets of gold. I love you Sydney and you’ll always be remembered.
