Ulysses Hart

ulysses hart
A life well lived. Great is the Lord and greatly to be Praised. Psalms 48:1. Ulysses J. Hart was born October 31, 1929, an only child born to James and Mable Stevens Hart in Winchester, Texas. At an early age his mother and Ulysses moved to San Antonio, Texas. He attended public schools; Grant Elementary, and graduated from Philis Wheatly in the class of 1948. Ulysses played football in high school. He truly enjoyed high school. His uncle was a tailor and Ulysses wore pin stripped suits daily. Ulysses had a strong desire to build houses, so when he completed high school, he followed his dream. His first job was with Ray Ellison Home Builders. He worked there and was ready to advance. He began working for contractor White, a builder of many of the black churches in San Antonio. Ulysses met and married Annie Lee Falke on August 5, 1950. They became the proud parents of five children; Donal Ray who proceeded both of them in death at an early age, Elizabeth Ann, Cecilia, Noble, and Bryant. Ulysses and Annie Lee were blessed with thirty-four years of marriage until Annie Lee passed away. Ulysses and Maggie Bryant were united in Holy Matrimony on May 6, 1983 in Seguin, Texas. Maggie had two daughters from a previous marriage, Marilyn E. Walter who loved Ulysses dearly and Helen Walter Garcia and one Godson, Anthony Burks. Ulysses and Maggie loved to travel. She was a Realtor for Century 21 D&D. Ulysses never had to look for another job for over eighteen years; James Dietz kept him busy until he retired. He was very precise about his work. There was only one way to do a job and that was perfect. He drew most of the house plans and many times he built a lot of the furniture. He and his crew would travel for miles and come home on weekends. He also, did restorative work on Museums in San Antonio. He loved his family and his work. He worked until his health failed at the age of 82 years old. Ulysses accepted Christ at an early age. After marrying Maggie Hart, he wanted a deeper relationship with God. He was baptized by Elder Ernest Scott at Faith Temple Apostolic Church and he began to grow in grace and acknowledgement of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He will be sadly missed. No one can replace him. Maggie at his side for thirty-six years. Marilyn E. Walter, his right arm. Noble E.
