Robert William Lay, Sr. was born to Gary Wayne Lay and Jacklyn Enos Lay on April 25, 1970 in Russellville, Arkansas. Following the passing of his father Gary, the family moved to California and then Texas where David Samudio, Sr., became his step-dad. Robert was brother to Gary Lay, Patricia Estrada, David Samudio, step-brother to Lori Vasquez, Daniel Samudio, and Samuel Samudio.
In his teen years Robert fell in love with Naomi "Mimi" Martinez and though they didn't live all of their lives together, their love was unconditional through the last days of his life. Robert was the proud father to Amanda N. Lay, Robert William Lay, Jr., and Alyssa Lay. Robert's most recent unconditional love was placed in his granddaughter, Harmony Ali Lay.
Though he lived a short 48 years he often lived life to the fullest. This included the many spontaneous trips to the lake, river and beach. Robert was called to be a great fisherman and hunter. If he wasn't out on the lake waiting for the reds to run, he was out chasing sunrises and sunsets. He did this through his love of motorcycles. If it was with his brothers of yellow and black, his son Billy, or even a solo ride, Robert loved to experience the open rode and freedom that his Harley brought to him. His most recent ride came to an end on November 4th, 2018 where he was surrounded by his family as he passed from this world and entered the gates of Heaven to be with his father, Gary Wayne Lay, Sr. On this day he expressed "today is a good day", and so when we celebrate the life of Robert "Wedo" Lay we will too say "today is a good day"
Robert leaves to cherish his memory, his mother, Jacklyn Enos; children, Amanda Lay, Robert Lay, Jr. (Priscilla )and Alyssa Lay; siblings, Gary, Lay, Patricia Estrada, David Samiudo, Lori Vasquez, Daniel Samudio and Samuel Samudio; granchild, Harmony Lay, the love of his life, Naomi Martinez along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
