The MeadowLawn Difference

About Us

Our funeral home has a unique history and committed relationship working within the community. We invite you to explore our legacy.

We operate as a licensed funeral home facility, two licensed crematories and a licensed perpetual care cemetery on the southeastern side of San Antonio. We are situated on 94 acres of which 27 have been developed, leaving 67 acres for future expansion. We offer a wide variety of funeral services; traditional funeral services with burial at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, a wide range of cremation services and complete burial options at our own cemetery. Burial, mausoleums, niches and a scattering garden are available to you and your family. Christmas of 2003, we bought American Mortuary and Bexar County Mortuary Services and in February of 2005 we relocated the businesses to our E. Houston location to offer complete services to our friends and families.

FAMILY OWNED & OPERATED

We understand the needs of families because that’s what we are. Craig Cates has been the owner of MeadowLawn since 1981, previously working under his parents. A lifelong Texan, he is a graduate of Southwestern University and a licensed funeral director, certified crematory operator as well as our current president. The Cates family along with their compassionate, experienced staff are dedicated to serving the San Antonio community for generations to come.

ON-SITE CREMATORY

In 1991, the decision was made to enter into the cremation market due to the increasing demand by the consumer. Complete with a viewing and witness room, the family may stay and witness the entire process and even start the process if they so choose. Because we own and operate our own facility, we have the ability to schedule your cremation service immediately after all of the permits are issued.

You’re in good hands for generations to come. As a perpetual care cemetery, enjoy the peace of mind that comes with knowing your beautiful final resting place will stay beautiful. We’ve established a perpetual care trust that will be used for general maintenance, repairs, regular landscaping and more.
