Brenda Joyce Davis went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, August 24, 2019 at the age of 70 years old. Born on March 6, 1949 to the late Mantue and Doris Dilworth, Brenda was the last of ten kids. Preceding her in death are her parents Mantue Dilworth and Doris Dilworth, six brothers and one sister. Brenda attended Brackenridge High School in San Antonio, and soon after met Ira W. Davis and united in holy matrimony. From this marriage two children were born: Cynthia E. Davis (Williams) and Ira W. Davis Jr. In 1987, she took on the responsibility of raising 2 great nieces Dana & Danielle Dilworth as her own children. Brenda worked at American Can Company for 20 years where she retired and then pursued and received an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education from San Antonio College. With this degree she was hired as a teacher for Mt. Zion Daycare where she taught for more than 10yrs. In 2004, she developed a passion for community activism as a volunteer with the Esperanza Peace and Justice Center, which led to her spearheading the development of the “Town East Village Plan”. Brenda is survived by her four children, Cynthia Williams (Gregory Williams Jr), Ira Davis Jr. (Cidalia Davis), Danielle Dilworth and Dana Wingate (Kevin Wingate); 15 grandchildren: Imani, Jazmine, Jayden, Isaiah, Kevion, Markis, Janae, Damaya, Da’Ivyelle, Nathan, Zion, Emeritus, Princeton, Jozeph and Joziah; 2 sisters, Alma Johnson (Leroy Johnson), Carrie LeFlore and a host of nieces and nephews.
