Charles Cooksey

charles cooksey
On September 28, 1953, Charles Allen Cooksey was born to Ausie P. and Myrtle E. Cooksey in Longview, Texas. He accepted Christ at an early age, departing this life on Thursday, April 21, 2016. He attended the public schools of Longview, Texas, graduated with the class of '71, and attended classes at St. Phillips College. He loved playing basketball, watching professional sports, and most of all--playing dominoes. He served 3 years, honorably, in the United States Army. After leaving the Army, he moved to San Antonio, Texas. Charles was employed at GECU for a number of years. He loved working with and for the people at The Argyle, spending over 20 years with them, until his passing. He was a quiet, but loving individual and was loved by all who knew him. He will be greatly missed by all. He leaves to cherish his memory: longtime companion, Barbara Alexander, a daughter, Donesia, three stepdaughters, La'Kisha, La'Kole, Aaliyah, six grandchildren, two sisters, Wanna Scott (Albert) of Longview, Texas, Auzetta Cooksey Martin (Franklin) of San Antonio, Texas, two brothers, Gregory J. Smith of Longview, Texas, Bertram Stroud of Dallas, Texas; one aunt, Bettie Stroud Williams, one uncle, Haskell B. Hall, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and special friends, Robert Duncan and Robert Lee.
