Dewitt A. Faulk

Dewitt Anthony Faulk, son of John Dennis Faulk, and Mary Goldie Hungerford, was born in New Iberia, Louisiana. He served in the U. S. Army after graduating from St. Joseph's High School, in Rayne, Louisiana. He was honorably discharged from the Army and attended University of Southwest Louisiana (now part of the LSU system) in Lafayette. He married Sally Belle Prophit, daughter of Leonard Oquin Prophit, and Barbara Ann Whilkins, June 6, 1969. He is survived by their 3 sons, James Curry, William Corey, and Steven Douglas, all of San Antonio. He also is survived by his 4 grandchildren, Joseph Conrad, Emily Lauren Knodell, Ashton Juliette, and Brenndolyn Alaina, all of San Antonio, and his brothers and sisters: Linda Marullo, of Santa Fe, TX; Donald of Houma, LA; Ronald, of New Iberia, Gerald, of Plymouth, CA; Kent of Haywood, CA; LeeRay; of UT, David, of Lake Charles, LA; Mary Beth Stack, of Opelousas, LA; Mark, of Lake Charles, LA; Jan Marie McNabb, of Bunke, LA; and Trudy, of Lake Charles, LA; and by numerous nieces and nephews. Dewitt was an avid reader, gardener (green-thumb extraordinaire), and loved to fish and hunt. He was a cost accountant and purchaser for many years, and retired from USAA bank in the stock department a few years ago (2006). He became disabled following surgery to remove a lung, at Audie Murphy Memorial VA Hospital in 2007. He passed away at home July 27th, 2009. A Memorial Service to celebrate the life of Dewitt is planned for 2:00 PM, Friday, July 31st, 2009, at Colonial Hills United Methodist Church, 5247 Vance Jackson, San Antonio, TX 78230. Dewitt chose to be cremated. Dewitt will be missed by family, friends, and co-workers.

  1. We will really miss Dewitt. He was a great asset to the human race. He impressed us with his wit and intelligence. He was kind and had a great laugh.

  2. Dewitt and I served three full years in the army together. We were in basic training together and later when to Shemya at the same time. we finished out tour at fort Bragg in 1965. We have had e-mail contact and telephone contact in the years since then.

    I wish to express my condolences to the family and close friends of Dewitt.
