Fredda Elwyn Whitis 'MiMi', 79, of Las Cruces, New Mexico, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother died on February 8, 2007. Mimi died peacefully at Mountainview Hospital after a long illness and was surrounded by family and close friends. Mimi was born on August 6, 1927 in Kilgore, Texas to Angie Rosamond and J.B. Rosamond. Mimi grew up in Kilgore, Texas and graduated from Kilgore High in 1943. She chose to continue her education at Sullins College in Virgina and graduated in 1947. She was married on Aug. 29th, 1948 to E. H. 'Herb' Whitis Jr.and lived and worked in San Antonio and Victoria, TX. In 1967, they moved to Del Rio, TX. and worked along side each other for many years. Mimi enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing bridge, traveling and entertaining. Mimi is survived by her daughter, Lea Whitis, daughter, Holly Warner, granddaughter, Kelsey Warner and many other dear friends and family members. Mimi was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 yrs , Herb Whitis, son, Ernest and his mother and father, Angie and J.B. Rosamond and a sister, Jean Leigh. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to a charity of your choice. To leave a note for the family, go to meadowlawn.net and select Obituaries. Graveside Services will be held at the Anchor Lodge Masonic Cemetery at the corner of Palmetto and Commerce at 11 AM Wednesday, Feb. 14th, 2007 in San Antonio, Texas. The entrance to the cemetery is on Palmetto St.
