James Edward Darton

james darton
James Edward Darton (Jack) was born in East Bernard, Texas to the late Celia Hicks and Birdo Darton. James was raised in Kenedy, Texas with his sisters and brothers by their grandmother, Nanny Mayo, she gave him the foundation to become a family man. James moved to San Antonio, Texas. Working at a young age James was determined to provide for his family with no assistance from others. With the help of his brother-in-law, Harold Jackson who put in a good word for him, James started working at Lackland Air Force Base. His supervisor must have seen the passion he had for food, so he sent James to cooking school and there was no stopping him then. While working at Trinity University he met the love of his life, Rosetta Mitchell and to this union two girls were born, Cheryl and Bridgette Darton, later two sons were added to the family, Andrew and James. James retired after thirty years from Morningside Manor and also retired from Good Time Charlie's after eight years. James was preceded in death by his parents, Celia and Birdo Darton and his wife, Rosetta. He leaves to cherish his memory daughters, Cheryl and Bridgette; sons, Stanley and Andrew; sisters, Nanette Jackson and Ada Jackson, eight grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

  1. My deepest sympathies to the entire family. While I only met him once, he left the impression of a kind gentle soul. Rest in peace Mr. Jack
