Leroy Duncan

Leroy Duncan was born April 3, 1924 to Leroy and Irene Duncan in San Antonio, Texas. Leroy, who was also called "Sonny" by his siblings and other relatives, was the first child to lead the way for a better life and career. Shortly after graduating from Wheatley High School he joined the US Army. After fulfilling his duties, he relocated to Chicago where he attended Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. Mr. Duncan worked for the Veteran Administration as a Claims Examiner for many years. While working at the VA he joined a bowling league and won several trophies for his excellent bowling average. In 1951 he married Gwendolyn Pittman; together they raised their five children in the suburbs of Chicago. After retirement, he moved back to San Antonio his home town and worked as a courtesy driver for Ken Bachelors Cadillac for a few years. In March of 2014, Leroy gave his life to the Lord and accepted him as his Savior. Leroy leaves his only surviving brother, Marvin Duncan of San Antonio, TX. Preceded in death is his mother, Irene Duncan, father, Leroy Duncan Sr., brother, Billy Joe Duncan, and sisters, Nell Rose Barnes, Robbie Payne, and Joanne Walker. On June 21, 2014 Leroy departed this life in the comfort of his home. Leaving to cherish his memories is his wife Gwendolyn Duncan, three daughters, Denise Duncan Evans, San Antonio, TX, Gail Duncan Ross (Raymond) Columbia, MD, Krystal Arlette Duncan, Owings Mills, MD, and two sons Kurt Duncan (Jennifer), Houston, TX and Aaron Duncan (Felicia), Tucson, AZ. His grandchildren Sherice Spencer (David) and great-grandson Dyvaryn; Dallas, TX, Breanna Duncan; Dallas, TX, Kori-Lynn Ross; Columbia, MD. Timothy Evans; Dallas, TX, Tristian Duncan; Phoenix, AZ, Mario Duncan; Colorado Springs, CO.; Maurice Duncan (Caren); great-granddaughters Kendall and Greenlee; Omaha, Nebraska, Skyla Valenzuela (Andy); great-granddaughter Brielle; Copperas Cove, TX and two grandsons, who preceded him were Marshn "Keith" Duncan, Darren Duncan and a host of friends and nieces and relatives.
