opal trevino
Opal June Trevino gained her wings on Tuesday September 7, 2021, at the age of 69. Opal was born in Orange, Texas January 29, 1952. Opal was one of five children which lead to her being a tomboy. She was very competitive in high school sports basketball and softball being her favorites. She continued for many years after high school competing in women’s softball alongside her mother, that drive, and competitiveness lead her to be one of the first female firefighters in San Antonio Fire Department. Serving as a first responder for 29 years with the fire department she fought fires, EMS Paramedic, and retired from the fire department while working in dispatch. She married a fellow firefighter Michael Trevino who also retired from the San Antonio Fire Department. Following retirement most of her free time was spent with her family. She was a loving Daughter, Sister, Wife, Mother and Grandmother, and our lives are forever changed without her. Opal is preceded in death by her husband Michael Trevino, parents Cornelius (Blackie) & Wanda Jones, brothers Jimmie and Nuby, sister Darlene, and her first grandchild Joshua. Left to cherish her memory is brother Butch, sister Carol, daughter Brandy Gaspard-Stuart and her husband Justin, granddaughter Kaylin, and grandson Ty. Guestbook

  1. Opal & I were good friends in high school, & one of my favorite memories is her laugh. Opal was almost always smiling, but when her smile broke into a laugh, it made everyone within hearing of it break out in a big smile or a laugh with her. RIP, my sweet friend Opal! You will be missed!

  2. I never saw you frown. Never. I am devastated that you are gone. I am so glad you and Mikey are reunited. I will always miss you, old friend and fellow firefighter. May you rest in peace, Opal.

  3. Most favorite sister-in-law. I will always love you. Thank you for being a part of my life. I will never forget you. 🙏🏻💕

  4. Above all, Opal was a devoted wife to her husband and my oldest brother Mike. She loved freely and cherished every minute they had together. She was a proud mother and grandmother that would do anything for her family. Opal was one that no matter what came her way, she was always grounded. A person that believed in herself and had the courage to take action! Joining the San Antonio Fire Department in 1983, she paved the way for so many more females. And underneath that strong personality, there was a pretty cool person. One of our last dinners together I was so intrigued to learn that she aended some of the greatest rock concerts of all me that included, Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin. She is now forever wrapped in my brothers arms. Rosanne and Adrian Dominguez

  5. Our deepest condolences. Opal will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts. From the Brittingham Family( Mark, Marylou, and Jordan)

  6. Opal was a friend and classmate of mine starting in first grade through high school at West Orange. She was always friendly and treated everyone with respect. Opal was an open, sweet person with a winning smile. Was hoping to see her whenever we could have our 50th high school reunion. God bless you Opal.

  7. Opal was one of the first paramedics I met when I was doing my ride-outs in the mid-90s. She was always so kind to me, and to her patients. She was a good friend and fellow firefighter. I am so happy she is reunited with her love…you have our deepest sympathies
