Oscar J. Mitchell was one of twelve children born to Irene and
Edgar Mitchell. Oscar was born and raised in Carthage, Texas

Oscar J. Mitchell was strong-willed and feisty. His two favorite

He was known for only wearing bone, black, blue, and brown. He
was a dedicated employee, working at the Witte Museum and the
San Antonio Independent School District. He also worked at
Fort Sam Houston until illness forced him to retire.
Oscar was married to Addie Price Mitchell until her death in
2003. He is preceded in death by parents Edgar and Irene
Mitchell; sisters Joyce Jackson, Idella Mitchell, Hattie Calloway,
and Audrey Green; and lastly, brothers Stephen Mitchell and
Howard Mitchell.
He leaves to cherish his memory his children; Yolanda Nious,
Renita D Mitchell, and Daryl Mitchell; granddaughters Brittney
Nious, Angel Mitchell, Ladaycia Mendez, and Ebony Nious, and
ex-wife Sandra Mitchell. Also in mourning are Oscar’s brothers
and sisters, Edgar Mitchell, Lynn Mitchell, Rickey Mitchell,
