Russell Anthony Maymi

russell maymi
“Lord, even when your path takes me through the valley of the deepest darkness, fear will never conquer me, for you already have! You remain close to me and lead me through it all the way. Your authority is my strength and my peace. The comfort of your love takes away my fear. I’ll never be lonely, for you are near.” Russell Maymi Russell Anthony Maymi was born in the Bronx, NY on May 9, 1972 to his mother, Nelida Maymi Gonzalez, recently deceased, and father, Angel Maymi Ruiz. He is survived by his children, Kaylee Marie Maymi and Brandon Edward Maymi, who he described as “a gift sent from heaven,” as well as his sister, Myra Maymi Aguillon, brother in law, Ruben Aguillon, and his four nieces whom he thoroughly enjoyed- Nadia Nicole Aguillon, Cassia Olivia Aguillon, Jessiny Aguillon, Jasmine Giselle Aguillon. He is also survived by numerous loved cousins and relatives in Puerto Rico and across the US. Russell was basically born with an instrument in his hand and a song in his heart. Whether it was the trumpet, drums, guitar, keyboard, given a week or two he was playing tunes and drum beats as if he’d studied for years. Above all, Russell loved Jesus and used his gift to write, sing and play songs of worship. He played and sang on various worship teams throughout the years. The Word of God was his lifeline. Through EVERY season of laughter or tears and trials, he clung to God’s Word. When life squeezed him, what came out of him was a song of worship to his God, his strength, his hope. His bible has an inscription that reads “God is bigger than any problem I have, I live to worship You.” Though he will be missed immensely, he is worshiping with the angels who, when they heard him singing probably exclaimed, “Where have you been all this time?!

  1. Russell was always so generous with our mom and myself. I remembered the many Valentines Days, Mother’s Days he’d arrive with A large bouquet of roses and chocolates and a card for me, the envelope, always read “Precious Myra.” ❤️ Dear brother I love you and will miss you. I keep reminding myself that are good! No more sickness, no more worries, no more physical pain, no more tears for you! I saw you walk through dark painful moments and now those memories doing even exist for you any longer! You are experiencing perfect peace, perfect love, true everlasting joy. Amazing the thought of it all.

  2. I worked with Russell, for many years. He always greeted by, warmly, and was ready to have a funny conversation. I received the news of his passing with a heavy heart, as he was very nice person, and someone who made our work blessing with his presence. I pray that his family is holding it together, please know you are all in my prayers. Russell will be missed and is a permanent part of my memories for the rest of my life. Rest in Peace Russell

  3. Im Brandon maymi. Russell maymis son. My dad was truly 1 of a kind. He had many hidden talents that he was so amazing at. But if they weren’t hidden everyone would be able to notice his success. My dad was truly the best dad a son could ask for. Even when he felt his worst he made me feel my best. My father never let me hit rock bottom. There was always somewhere with light. My dad wasnt a very happy person alone. That’s why he was so friendly. And I just realized that. And that will forever be one of my regrets. Neglecting my time with my father. I always threw a fit when he asked me to help him with stuff or cook. Or go shopping. But now that’s all i want. I want 1 more meal with you. Rest in peace daddy – your boy
