Willie Lee Woodson

willie woodson
Surrounded by the ones he laughed with, lived for, and loved, Willie Lee Woodson, 68, of Houston, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 11, 2018. He was raised in Houston, Texas by his late mother Estelle Woodson and his Stepfather Fred Taylor. He was raised in Houston and traveled the world thanks to the military. He loved his mother Estelle Woodson, who with the help of his Aunt Katy in Houston reared him. Willie was an incredibly kind man who enjoyed life and never met a stranger. Willie had an infectious smile and bubbly personality who could make anyone laugh. His family will forever miss his gentle soul, his caring heart, his mischievous smirk, and the bright twinkle in his eyes. The world lost a beautiful soul but Heaven gained one. Willie proudly served his country by enlisting in the United States Army and proudly retiring in 1989. While stationed in Germany became a Mason and Eastern Star. He then started his second career as a truck driver. He enjoyed his long hauls and listening to his music. It was during this time that he developed his signature every day look of wearing a plaid pocketed shirt and a baseball cap. Our Pawpow, as he liked to be called by his grandchildren, was a loving son, father, and grandfather. His grandchildren were his heart and joy. He enjoyed the simple things in life like going to the movies and fishing. He tried to make fishing his passion but he was too afraid to bait the hook and take the fish off the line. He was predeceased by his sisters Barbara Anne Taylor, Ester Marie Taylor, Janette Taylor, and brother Marvin Taylor. He is survived by his four children, Willie Lee Woodson Jr, Terrick C. Woodson, Nakisha P. Woodson, and Eric (tre) Woodson and wife, Beverly J. Woodson, his grandchildren, Danielle Woodson, Gauge Woodson, Mercedes C. Perez, Paige P. Perez, great-grandchild, Corwin Woodson, his brother, Larry Taylor, Robert Earl Taylor, his aunt Katy Williams, Charles Williams, Jessica William, Trevon Wiiliams, Uncle Will L., Lillie Pearl Washington, Riddell Fizer, Emma Lee Woodson and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Gone but not forgotten………
